Professional Experience
Mphilisi is a seasoned Electrical Engineer with 15 years of experience, having worked extensively in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa. His expertise spans electrical and electronic design, project administration, and construction management across various commercial and industrial sectors.
His professional journey began in 2010 after earning a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. He joined BVi Consulting Engineers in Cape Town as a Design Technician, where he honed his technical skills over two years. During his tenure at BVi, he pursued further studies, obtaining a B-Tech Degree in Electrical Engineering from the same institution in 2011. Following his academic achievement, he was promoted to Design Technologist, a role he held for an additional two years. Across four years at BVi, he developed strong expertise in electrical and electronic system design, project administration, and construction management, contributing to notable projects such as Engen and Shell Service Stations, District 6 Clinic, Lentegeur SAPS, False Bay College, and several others.
In 2013, Mphilisi transitioned to Element Consulting in Cape Town as an Electrical Technologist, where he spent two years refining his capabilities in medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical designs, electronic systems, and project coordination. His portfolio at Element Consulting included work on Mfuleni Clinic, Somerset Retirement Village, Kimberly University, and a variety of other impactful projects.
January 2016 marked a significant career milestone when he joined Single Destination Engineering (SDE) as an Electrical Engineer. Within just nine months, his expertise and leadership earned him a promotion to Project Engineer, a position that required him to oversee full-scale design, administration, and project management. Among his key projects at SDE were the refurbishment of a major live data center at FNB Data Centre in Randburg and an infrastructure upgrade for Absa.
Driven by a passion for innovation and efficiency, Mphilisi eventually co-founded Luba Consulting Engineers And Contractors, a firm specializing in electrical, mechanical, and fire protection building services, project management, and energy efficiency optimization. His extensive experience and commitment to excellence continue to shape the industry, delivering high-quality engineering solutions to a diverse range of clients.
